About Us

Hello and welcome. Let us get to know each other a little better. We are twin sisters from Mumbai a.k.a The City of Dreams. We may be identical twins but we do have different passions. Karen is passionate about photography and Suzan is passionate about baking. Though we both share a common love for food (esp. chocolate and pizza) and we also like to travel. We are introverts by nature, but our passions allow us to express our creativity.

We have always dreamed of having our own website, and due to our hectic work schedules we were procrastinating this idea for a long time.

A few months back we finally decided to go for it and start a blog just to see the response we would get. We wanted to share our passions with the world.Since we got a good response and some awesome feedback, we decided to have our own domain name.

We scratched our heads trying to come up with an apt name.Since our passions are baking, photography and travelling we thought why not combine these. The word epicure defines a person who takes particular pleasure in fine food and drink and the word explorer defines a person who explores a new or unfamiliar area. Combine these two and voila “The Epicurious Explorers” was born.

So if you like food, photography or travel, then join us on our journey as we explore new places and food and we promise that you will not be disappointed!! 🙂

Here’s a little more about each of us:

Hey folks, Karen here.I have passion for photography especially landscape, food and architecture photography and love to explore new places whenever I get a chance to. I also love food and travel and thus have an interest in writing reviews for restaurants and hotels based on my personal experiences.

I’m a nature and sunset lover, tree hugger and cloud watcher.I have a daring (or as some would say silly ) habit of standing /sitting in the middle of roads (obviously when there’s no traffic) and have someone click my pics. 😀 .I have an ever-growing bucket list of places I would love to visit around the world and have managed to visit a few.I hope I can visit all someday.
*Somebody please hand me a million dollar cheque soon, hehe* 😛 😉 . 

I also love music, movies, art, watching football or as some of you call it soccer.
I’m a die-hard fan of Nirvana and Coldplay and the football team Man Utd. This might surprise some of you, but yeah some girls like grunge music and sports too. 😉
And I almost forgot to mention how I love literature i.e. reading books and writing poems and stuff.

Hey Everyone, Suzan here.

I’m an absolute foodie and a chocoholic who loves trying out new things to eat. I also have a passion for baking and I love discovering new recipes and re-creating delicious desserts. I also love to explore new places and my dream is to visit all countries of the world.

I am born in a family where we all have a major sweet tooth. We love having desserts especially chocolate. Growing up, my Mom would always make something sweet for us, be it cakes, ice cream, bread pudding, caramel custard, etc. and she is one of the main inspirations for me to start baking. Every Christmas she would bake a cake without fail and I used to just love the aroma that filled the whole house. I remember helping her sometimes while she prepared the batter and I would end up eating some of the raw batter.

My interest for baking developed after watching Nigella Lawson’s show on a food channel when I realised that I could easily make all the things I love in my own kitchen rather than going and buying it plus I could make it whenever I wanted to or rather whenever a craving would set in ;). My other inspirations include Rachel Allen, Donna Hay, Donal Skehan, Lorraine Pascale, etc.

I started collecting recipes from various websites and I have like a ‘to do’ list i.e. that is a list of things that I would love to make at least once. Over the years I have lost some recipes so that is why I started a blog one year back to keep all the recipes together.

I am a self-taught baker who loves experimenting with different recipes and ingredients and I have to admit that not all have turned out to be successful the first time. That is why I have decided to share with you some of the successful recipes that have been carefully written with the right quantity of ingredients and clear instructions to ensure that they turn out the way you expect it to. These include recipes that have been adapted and used and some recipes that have been handed down from my mom. The best part is that they are tried and tested and they are really simple to follow.

So why don’t you go through the recipe list and have fun making them. Feel free to ask any questions regarding the recipes and I’ll do my best to answer.
