Christmas is one the most awaited festivals especially for me and my family. It’s a time when no matter how we are busy otherwise, we come together to celebrate with lots of sweets, food, fun, and friends.
For me especially it makes me nostalgic as I remember the times we would get together to decorate the Christmas tree, Crib and the house. We would be so sleepy yet excited about it.
So coming to Christmas décor, it is important as it makes everything looks all Christmassy and pretty. Most of us buy décor from the store. Sometimes we just use the old décor as there’s not much time to shop for new ones.
Here’s an easy D.I.Y décor that I thought of last year. I got inspired by some post I saw online. I initially thought of painting the beer and wine glasses lying around the house, with some Christmas motifs. Then the idea struck me that instead of using these to drink why not use them as a décor.
I added some fairy lights and voila I had these really pretty looking Christmas décor. It hardly took time to paint the glasses and you don’t have to be an expert in painting either. I was super happy with the results. You can see from the pics that these looked really cute and colorful. Kids would love making these and even adults can make it for their kids.
You need just 5 items; Acrylic paint, glasses (beer, wine or any you prefer), butter paper, pencil /eraser and a marker pen
- On the butter paper draw an outline of the design you’d like to paint, with a pencil. I used butter paper as this is transparent and it’s easier to place inside the glass.
- Once you draw the design, place the butter paper inside the glass. Use a marker pen to draw the design on the glass.
3. Use acrylic paint to paint the design.
4.Let the paint dry for some time.
5.Once the paint has dried, place the fairy lights in the glass. You can also put cotton inside the glass first; however I didn’t try it because I was afraid it would get burnt with heat.
6.Turn on the lights and voila you have a pretty D.I.Y Christmas decor ready.
Place them anywhere around the house (but make sure it’s on a height if you have children or pets). I’m sure everyone will love it. 🙂
